ACK ST. MARY AND JOSEPH REGEN CONSECRATED

n joyful and momentous ceremony, ACK St. Mary and Joseph Regen was consecrated today by the Rt. Rev'd Canon Charles M. Muturi, joined by the Rt. Rev'd Dr. Rukundo Jean Pierre Methode from the Karongi Missionary Diocese in Rwanda. The service was led by the Ven. Stephen Nyingi Ngariuku, who assisted in the baptism.The 6th Mt. Kenya South, Rt. Rev’d Canon Muturi, congratulated the Christians of the parish and their vicar, Rev'd George Igogo, for completing the church after years of waiting. The homily was delivered by Rt. Rev'd Dr. Rukundo Jean Pierre Methode, who began by bringing greetings from Rwanda and the Karongi Diocese. He focused on the theme of the month: Rooted in Celebration, Worship, and Adoration. He thanked God for His provision, noting how He had blessed the people of ACK St. Mary and Joseph Regen with a beautiful church. “Those who have taken part in building this house of God will not go unrewarded, and they will not lack,” he assured the congregation, commending them for their faith and hard work. Speaking on worship, Rt. Rev'd Rukundo explained that worship carries various meanings but always revolves around a common core—honoring and bowing before God. “It’s not just about singing or attending services,” he said. “Worship is a deep reverence—a lifting up of God’s name in praise and a recognition of His greatness.” He elaborated on three key elements of worship: -It starts in the mind – We must first understand who God is. -It involves our mouths – We express worship through our words, praising God for His works. -It requires action – We must serve the Lord joyfully through practical deeds. Rt. Rev'd Rukundo then touched on the importance of thanksgiving. He humorously remarked that while angels collecting prayer requests in heaven are overwhelmed with work, those assigned to receive thanksgiving are often relaxed because people are more inclined to ask than to give thanks. “We should not forget to thank God for the great things He has already done,” he reminded them.Using a powerful illustration, he compared being deeply rooted in faith to a tree with strong, deep roots. “A tree with shallow roots can be easily uprooted, but one with deep roots stands firm through storms,” he said. “In the same way, if you are deeply rooted in worship and adoration, your faith will not be shaken.” He urged the congregation to never feel complacent, even when things seem to be going well, but to continually seek more of God’s wisdom and knowledge. He also encouraged them to engage with and understand the world around them, including politics, with discernment, as part of living out their faith. “God is giving us the vision to be a blessing and an inspiration to this country. It’s time to rise up and shine.” The service concluded with the cutting of the 40 years anniversary cake by Rt. Rev’d Canon Charles M. Muturi and _Rt. Rev’d Dr. Rukundo Jean Pierre Methode.
