More than 1,000 ladies congregated at St. John's Kabuku overflowing its capacity, to witness the first phase of the Mother's Union Commissioning. The Sixth Mt. Kenya South Rt. Rev'd Canon Charles Muturi Commissioned 220 Widows and Single Mothers belonging to the Orders of Anna and Mary Magdalene, respectively. "The old is gone; the new is now upon us. The grace of God is sufficient to enrich our lives and livelihoods; to elevate us from one glory to the next, if only we stay faithful to our calling and keep the flame of our faith ever burning." The Guest Speaker, Rt. Rev'd Paul Kiptoo Masaba from the Diocese of Sebei in Uganda charged the newly commissioned ladies in his homily. The Service was led by the Mother's Union Chaplain Ven. Canon John Mutonga, Administrative Secretary Ven. Counsel Fredrick Gacheru, Limuru Archdeacon Ven Francis Thande, Ven. Dr. Richard Kamau and Ven. Lois Musyoka. A good number of Area Deans, a battery of Clergy and Lay Readers were in attendance. Mrs. Agnes Masaba, Bishop Kiptoo's spouse graced the Service. Rev'd Onesphore Ngabo was lauded for top-notch preparations.
