BISHOP MASHINANI OUTREACH SPREADS THE LOVE OF CHRIST TO THE NEEDY IN CONGO

The Bishop Mashinani, Bishop kwa Ground, Bishop na Mahustler Initiative today turned its attention to the informal settlements of Congo in Kawangware.

Snaking through narrow alleys encroached by overrunning sewerage and roadside vendors, often impassable by vehicles, The Sixth Mt. Kenya South Rt. Rev'd Canon Charles Muturi and the Mashinani team trekked more than 7 kms to reach 12 needy families within the winding slums.

The team came face to face with the deplorable living conditions, dire poverty, and insecurity Christians contend with on a daily basis and how their smartness in church veils the meekness of their dwellings.

They fellowshipped in their homes, sharing the love of Christ, uplifting the downtrodden, annointing the sick and blessing their homes. Each family got an assortment of foodstuffs and blankets.

The Bishop was flanked by Riruta Archdeacon Ven. Esther Kagicha, Rev'd Zephaniah Ndondi, Ev. Wallace Mungai, Ev. Simon Wasike, Ev. Christopher Mugo and a section of Christians led by BOF Chair Mr. Maina Mbekenya.

A Holy Communion Service was later convened at ACK St. Michael and All Angels Congo Sub-Parish.

"During this Lenten Season where prayer is paramount, let us use our fingers to help us make our prayers holistic beginning with the: 1 Little finger ~ pray for self, needs, desires, family, etc.

2. Ring finger ~ pray for the sick, troubled, in the street and in wartorn areas

3. Index finger ~ pray for all arms of government and their cohesion

4. Poiting finger ~ pray for teachers, doctors, priests, and all who point us to truth

5. Thumb ~ pray for the world and all people."
