GRAND CATHEDRAL COMPLETION GUARANTEED, AS EXTRA MILE 3 SURPASSES TARGET

All roads led to ACK St. James Cathedral today as Christians, clergy, delegates, and members of the political class assembled for the Walking an Extra Mile With The Bishop Initiative 3. A record Kshs 82.27 Miĺlion was raised within minutes, surpassing the Kshs 80 Million target and guaranteeing the completion of the Grand Diocesan Cathedral which is now at 62%. The Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Rigathi Gachagua was the Chief Guest while the Second Lady, H.E. Pastor Dorcas Rigathi was the Guest Preacher. The colourful Service was officiated by The Sixth Mt. Kenya South Rt. Rev'd Canon Charles Muturi, Bishop Emeritus Rt. Rev'd Peter Njenga and Rt. Rev'd Nathan Amooti with Diocesan Clergy in attendance. They were hosted by the Provost Very Rev'd Canon Geoffrey Mungai and Assistant Provost Rev'd Ann Mwaura. Mama Wanjiku and Mama Nduta graced the service. A caucus of Members of the August House drawn from all constituencies in the County and beyond were present led by the Leader of Majority Hon. Kimani Ichungwa, Kiambu Governor H.E. Kimani Wamatangi, Senator Hon. Karungo wa Thang'wa and Woman Representative Hon. Anne Muratha. Members of the Kiambu County Assembly in their entirety also graced the service. "Giving is a pillar in every religion. It is not an option but rather a divine directive; therefore, when we give, we should first comprehend the status of whom we are giving." H.E. Pastor Dorcas taught in her homily. "When we present ourselves before God, it is prudent we approach Him with our: - Worship - Praises - Service - Substance." The Second Lady added. The Deputy President pledged to spearhead the fight against alcohol and substance abuse in the county, terming it as 'alarming'. He also took a tour of the cathedral site. A jovial Bishop Charles was grateful to the Diocesan Clergy, Christians, and Guests for honoring God by owning the call to build Him a Grand Sanctuary. After the successful gathering of funds, Bishop Charles Muturi and Mama Wanjiku hosted the Deputy President, Second Lady, and their entourage for a luncheon at the Bishop’s Bourne.
