ADMISSION AND COMMISSIONING OF LAY READERS AND LEGAL PRACTITIONERS (ALAMKES) SERVICE AT ACK ST. JAMES CATHEDRAL

The Diocese of Mt. Kenya South held a significant and grace-filled service at ACK St. James Cathedral, presided over by the *6th Mt. Kenya South, the Rt. Rev’d Canon Charles M. Muturi.*
The service brought together clergy, lay readers, and members of the *Anglican Legal Aid of Mt. Kenya South (ALAMKES)* for a moment of admission, reflection, and thanksgiving.
The service commenced with the admission of Lawyers and Advocates under the Anglican Legal Aid of Mt. Kenya South (ALAMKES), marking a key milestone as they were formally recognized and set apart to serve both the Church and society through their professional calling.
This was followed by the sermon, delivered by the *Rt. Rev’d CPA Benard Enos Otieno Owuor* from the Anglican Diocese of Maseno East. Drawing from the Book of Nehemiah, the Bishop shared a deeply reflective and challenging message, urging the congregation to embrace a heart of concern and responsibility for others.
He highlighted how Nehemiah stood out by asking questions and seeking to understand the condition of his people. In the same way, Christians today are called not to be indifferent, but to be attentive and responsive to the needs within their communities.
He challenged the congregation to examine themselves, questioning how often they genuinely care about the struggles around them and whether they take time to inquire and act.
The Bishop emphasized that a true desire to serve must be grounded in prayer and fasting, encouraging believers to move away from self-centered prayers and instead intercede for others. He reminded the congregation that God has strategically placed each person in their respective professions and spaces for a purpose,to be instruments of transformation.
He further affirmed that the solution to the brokenness in society is found in Christ, describing Him as the *“rectifier”* who restore.
