*SERVICE FOR THE INDUCTION OF THE DIOCESAN VICAR GENERAL, INSTALLATION OF ARCHDEACONS, ORDINATION OF PRIESTS, MAKING OF DEACONS, COMMISSIONING OF AREA DEANS, AND RENEWAL OF PRIESTLY VOWS*
The service was presided over by the *6th Mt. Kenya South, the Rt. Rev’d Canon Charles M. Muturi.*
The service began with the making of Deacons, led by the Bishop, followed by the ordination of Priests. It was a deeply significant moment in the life of the Church, marking both commitment and transition into sacred ministry.
The sermon was delivered by the Retreat Master of the postulants and ordinands, the *Ven. Canon Kuria Wanyoike,* under the theme *“The Ministry of the Shepherd.”*
He began by reminding the congregation that all who are entrusted with the care of others are, in essence, shepherds. Whether in ministry or leadership, each person carries the responsibility of guiding, nurturing, and protecting those under their care. Above all, he emphasized that God Himself is the Greatest Shepherd.
Drawing from the book of Ezekiel, he explained that its message carries both warning and hope. As shepherds, clergy are called not only to warn but also to bring hope to God’s people.
He posed a thought-provoking question: Why does the Bible so often refer to sheep? He explained that sheep are deeply significant in Scripture and used to illustrate the nature of God’s people.
He then outlined key characteristics of sheep to bring this message to life:
Sheep easily get lost, symbolizing how people can stray without guidance.
They are defenseless, highlighting their dependence on the shepherd’s care.
When a sheep falls, it cannot rise on its own, as reflected in Isaiah 40:11, showing the need for divine help.
Sheep are not meant to carry burdens, echoing Christ’s call to all who are weary and heavy-laden to come to Him.
Sheep recognize the voice of their shepherd, just as believers are called to discern and follow God’s voice.
CONGRATS TO THEM ALL
