ACK ST. ANGELA GITHIMA PARISH BIO ACK ST. Angela Githima was founded way back in 1998 during the tenure of Rev’d Job Kibi who was then the Rural Dean & Vicar Thimbigua Parish. Rev’d Stephen Mbue took over from him from 2000 – 2005 and requested the heads to look for a plot where Christians will be converging with an intention of building a church. In 2006, Rev’d David Nyoro Mbugua, took over and formed a committee comprised of: 1. Rev’d David Nyoro Mbugua - Rural Dean 2. Cpt. Rev’d David Munga Njai - (then Lay Reader) 3. Fredrick Kinani Machehu 4. Ruth Njeri Karianjahi 5. Stanley Mungai Njoroge 6. Elizabeth Wanjiku Kihiu 7. Samuel Kiong’e Munyua 8. Raymond Ngugi Njoroge 9. John Kimani Gitau 10. Sarah Nimi Ndungu 11. Jennifer Njeri Ichura 12. Stephen Waithaka Mwambura Mrs. Ruth Njeri Karianjahi (amongst the committee members) approached a friend Mrs. Gladys Wambui Munuhe (now deceased) and asked her whether she knew a place she could get a plot to purchase for a purpose to build a church. Coincidentally, Ms Munuhe proposed she was to donate her land in purpose of setting up a hospital but a church would be a noble course. In 2006, a fellowship was held where the church is today using tents and chairs from the mother church, ACK Thimbigua Parish, happening once every month. On November 17, 2006 A foundation breaking ceremony was presided over by Rev‘d David Nyoro and a harambee was held raising Kshs 245,386 to aid in the foundation breaking. The Late Hon. Njenga Karume donated Kshs 300,000 while the family of the Late Joseph Karianjahi helped to construct the toilets. January 2008 a congregation of 14 members started attending the services at the plot with Rev`d Esther Wanjiru Kagicha and Rev`d Fredrick Kamau Gacheru as the Vicar and Curate respectively. In 2009, the Diocesan Bishop Rt Rev`d Timothy Ranji visited the church and the first baptism ceremony was held. The first wedding ceremony of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kamau was solemnized in April by Rev`d Esther Wanjiru. In November a plot was purchased and a part of the value was paid. January 2010, English Service was started at 8:30 a.m with a good number of people coming in for the service. February 2011, the church had its first Layreader Mr. Danson Munyua Kiong’e. The Church was named ‘’St Angela” on 4th May 2012 during the tenure of Rev’d Esther Wanjiru. The church departments i.e KAMA,MU,KAYO, Choir,Sunday School, and Brigade have registered great numbers over the time with the choir attaining over 20 members fitted with gowns. On 2nd June 2013, The then Kiambaa Archdeacon Ven. Canon Juliet Bundi launched ACK Githima Parish which started on 1st January 2013 during the tenure of Rev`d Peter Wainaina Kamiti. A teens service was also launched by the Vicar with Martha Wanjuhi and Alice Mithamo as the teachers pioneering the great service. This comprised of more than 40 teenagers all around the church environs. On 26th June 2016, The Bishop Rt. Rev’d Timothy Ranji Mbuthia launched the Perimeter wall, Gate and M.U. store during the tenure of Rev`d Peter Kamiti. The church held its first Retirement service for the long termed Vicar Rev`d Peter Wainaina Kamiti on December 2018 and welcomed the 2nd Vicar Revd John Mwaura Kinyati with the 1st Evangelist Ev. Priscilla Kweheria who served till 31st December 2019 and Ushered in Rev’d Alexander David Njau and Ev. James Ngugi Wamaitha the 3rd Vicar and 2nd Evangelist respectively. During the covid era, it was realized that the teens needed an area of worship and the 3rd Vicar proposed a committee to oversee the project under Mr. Paul Kamau. On 28th Dec 2022 an a ablution block and teens hall were launched and blessed by Rev’d Alexander David Njau.The church set up 20 rental houses on the plot which was purchased in the year 2009. The 4th Vicar (current), Rev’d Ishmael Muturi Waweru, was handed over the Administration Block Project by the 3rd Vicar as he was exiting the office on 31st Dec 2022 whereby the project is ongoing. The 2nd Ev. James Ngugi handed over the office to the 3rd Ev. Carol Wakio Kariuki on 1st July 2023. The church serves; 1. Sunday School Service 2. Teens Services 3. Swahili Service 4.
