St. Mark’s Church Ndurarua services started in 1956 at Ndurarua Primary School grounds in a mud structure classroom and later to Mihirigo as the place of worship. The school later donated a one-acre plot to the church which was dedicated by the then Rural Dean, the Late Revd. Sospeter Magua on 5th January 1964. Construction of the current church commenced on 5th August 1968 and on 21st December 1975 the church was consecrated by the late Assistant Bishop Rt. Revd. Ezbon Ngaruiya. Ndurarua Parish has over the years transformed under different administrators and circumstances, as it was formerly a church under the stewardship of Kabete Parish, then Ndunyu Parish before finally attaining the status of Ndurarua Parish in 1996, under the leadership of Revd. Hilary Njoroge. The Parish under the wise and able leadership of various Vicars and Church elders with the dedicated and committed support of Christians has witnessed tremendous growth over the years in terms of membership, spiritual growth and development of physical infrastructure. Ndurarua Parish is under Ndurarua Deanery which was established in the year 2001 and has since been the headquarters of the Deanery which has four other member parishes namely: • St. Paul’s Kabete, • St. Johns Ndongoro, • St. Lukes King’eero and • St. Stephen’s Chura. Since the establishment of the Deanery, all the serving Vicars of Ndurarua Parish have doubled up as the Area Deans of the Deanery.
