The history of ACK St. Luke's King'eero Parish can be traced back to the year 1998 when ACK St. Marks Ndurarua Parish under the leadership of the late Rev. Edwin Maina desired to plant a new church. In 1999, a plot was bought in Karira, King’eero village and consecrated by the then Vicar General of the Diocese of Mt Kenya South the late Rev. Samson Njuguna. The then Diocesan Bishop Rtd. Rt. Rev Peter Njenga Kariuki charged the parish members coming from Kamuti-ini shopping Centre and its environs to start a new church at the plot. The call was well heeded to and it gave rise to the first church service on the 9th day of January 2000. This was a very unique service not only because it was the first one but also because it was held under a Mukinduri tree with borrowed seats from the neighborhood. Under the able leadership of the late Rev Edwin Maina and Ven. Kenneth Munanga (then Rev. Kenneth Munanga), members willingly and generously donated money, materials and furniture for the church. The church which was then known as ACK Karira was christened ACK St Luke’s Church King’eero in 2001. The first church building was made of iron sheets and earthen floor. Apart from being used for Sunday School, English and Kikuyu services, the building served as a meeting venue for all the church groups. In 2002, the church bought an eighth acre plot with the next major development being the building of the Sunday School Block which was opened in 2008. The building of the new sanctuary began in March 2011. This involved transferring the temporary church building to the above mentioned plot to free space for the sanctuary construction. The church had for a long time hired a building in an adjoining quarter acre plot of land to use for various church activities and to house the evangelist. The Parish Council had been offering to buy the plot but without success. In December 2012, the plot was put on sale for Kshs 10 million. Having come at a time when the sanctuary construction was ongoing, the church which was financially very constrained had to look for a quick way to raise the money. This happened towards the end of Ven. Kenneth Munanga’s brief second posting to the parish. The Parish Council together with the development committee and under the leadership of Ven. Kenneth Munanga, agreed to increase the parish shares at Dimkes Sacco to enable the parish to secure a loan of Kshs 10 million and the plot was immediately bought. Rev, Simon Nginyo was posted to the Parish in January 2013. We thank God for the way he mobilized Christians to undertake simultaneously, the sanctuary construction and loan repayment. The church building was completed and consecrated in April 2014. By God’s grace the loan repayment was completed ahead of schedule in 2016. The Lord has enabled us to accomplish these and many more things under the good leadership of the clergy who have served here. The parish is currently (2023) under the leadership of Rev Jamlick Muiruri.
